In his book, former FBI director James Comey shares his never-before-told experiences from some of the highest-stakes situations of his career in the past two decades of American government, exploring what good, ethical leadership looks like, and how it drives sound decisions. His journey provides an unprecedented entry into the corridors of power, and a remarkable lesson in what makes an effective leader.
Mr. Comey served as director of the FBI from 2013 to 2017, appointed to the post by President Barack Obama. He previously served as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, and the U.S. deputy attorney general in the administration of President George W. Bush. From prosecuting the Mafia and Martha Stewart to helping change the Bush administration's policies on torture and electronic surveillance, overseeing the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation as well as ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, Comey has been involved in some of the most consequential cases and policies of recent history.
A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership is a book by James Comey, the former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), discussing ethics and leadership Comey encountered throughout his life, his career in public office, and his relationship with President Donald Trump, who fired him in May 2017. It was published by Macmillan Publishers' Flatiron Books on April 17, 2018...
Garbage book from a liar and leaked. 15
That there was a question in the media of whom to believe (Comey or Trump) is a complete travesty, as this dedicated head of the FBI endured having his name dragged through the mud by so-called conservative patriots who seriously considering as true the word of our pathologically lying president. Both political tribes have attacked Comey for trying to do his job in a non-partisan way; this may be the key sign of his probity. 55
It was certainly an eye-opener on what really went on behind the scenes. How 1 man standing up for what’s right can change the way we are heading as a nation. There was a lot of what was said that the bias media twisted to fit the crooked current administration. If only we had more like Mr. Jim in positions of authority that would make the tough decisions and do what is right and not play the political games. I can only hope that he is one day on the ballot to be voted for cause he certainly has my vote!!! 55
It was a most interesting read which brought out the real duties of the three branches of government and educated me on the entirely three separate branches of government & how they reacted during, what I call the perfect storm of partisan politics. It made me proud to be an American on how James Comey handled this crazy time in Politics, & how he took the hit and did the right thing. I would be more than happy to have James Comey on my team👍🏻🙏🏻 Truth is power💙🙏🏻 55
I salute James Comey for the book. It takes a lot of moral courage to share the truth and to encourage his readers to speak the truth against a President who can’t speak any truth! 55
This is a book that should be read by every member of the government from the line staff in departments to serving congressional members. Mr. Comey has laid out how continued silence on the actions of unethical and ego-driven president will harm us in-ways we cannot currently foresee, but the strength of our nations values will be stronger and wiser for the current dumpster fire that is our current time in history. Thank you sir for being a true confident leader. 55
Nothing here that isn’t already public knowledge, if there was Comey would be in jail for writing it! 15
Comey is a criminal. U support a criminal by buying this trash. 15
Sanctimonious drivel, childish prose from a proven liar. Unreadable. 15
I bought Mr. Comey’s book for several reasons: (1) I like the cover (2) I wanted to compare Mr. Comey’s points of view to those of former FBI Director Louis Freeh’s book “My FBI” (3) Mr. Comey’s book was on sale for 40% off (4) I do not read fiction and I do not plan to read Mr. Comey’s book. (5) I plan to put Mr. Comey’s book next to former Director Freeh’s book (6) I will be PROUD to have both books side-by-side in a book case. One written by a GREAT DIRECTOR and the other by a “wanna be” director. 15
Please Don’t rate books if you don’t read them. This book is comprehensive and while I don’t agree with some of the laws and policies upheld, Comey did his job well. Telling readers his journey and the truth about the situations and decisions occurring below the surface. 55
It seems to me he is very honest in the book. Thank you very much. 55
Well written and helpful for those trying to make sense of changes in our world today. 55
After reading this book, I shall be very surprised if Mr. Comey is not canonized. He portrays himself and the former President Obama above reproach. His definition of a leader is laughable, a person who has confidence and humility...if President Obama had those qualities, would he have accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for doing absolutely nothing? Comey needs to realize the people who voted for President Trump were not voting for a husband of the year but for a person with a proven record of being able to get things done. A true leader is judged by their results. In my opinion, after one and a half years, Trump’s accomplishments surpass Obama’s two terms in office. Actually, I cannot think of one positive thing Obama did for this country. 15
I’m just half way through the book and love it. The emphasis on ethical leadership was a pleasant surprise. Great read and a one that every aspiring Leader should read. 55
Well you get what you pay for. I tried my best to follow his story but by the end, the holes keep anyone still capable of objective reasoning to see both the smoke AND the mirrors. You would think from the great reviews that this telling would make it all clear and straight. Bread and circuses for those still attached to sugary beverages. 15
Even if you think that Comey changed the 2016 elections, form your opinion of him and this book after giving this a read. It’s a good book, written with care, and if you give it the chance, it might pleasantly surprise you. 55
James Comey... Lol 15
This was obviously just a money grab 15
