That smoking hot one-night stand with a former rock star? Turns out he's my son's new music teacher. Oops.
But I didn't know that the night I met Campbell. All I knew was he played my body the same way he played a guitar — like he owned it.
My libido is still high-fiving me after being self-served for too many years, and we’re both ready for another night or two of fun, especially since we don’t just have chemistry in bed — we connect over everything.
That is, until I learn he’s the man who’ll be coming to my house twice a week to teach my son — the best music lessons money can buy.
Time to turn down the volume on our shenanigans. Only that’s easier said than done.
I can rock a guitar solo in front of thousands, I can write chart-topping tunes, and I can absolutely stop thinking about my student’s mother naked.
After all, I’m a single parent too, and I know what it’s like to put your kid first. That’s what I do every damn day.
Trouble is, now that I’ve had Mackenzie, it’s hard — and I do mean hard — to stop wanting her. Harder too when I get to know her, and learn she’s an awesome mom, a great friend, and, oh yeah, she happens to get along perfectly with my daughter.
All we have to do is set some rules. No dating, no nookie when the kids are around, and no one gets hurt.
It’s all working out beautifully. Until we start breaking the rules, one by one.
Making music with her in the bedroom is easy. But will we be more than just a real good time when the music stops?
Once Upon A Real Good Time book summary coming soon..
When I first heard about this series I couldn't help but be excited. A trio of books from my favorite author all releasing closely together? That's like a birthday and Christmas all at once. Once Upon a Real Good Time was a sizzling, sexy read that I absolutely devoured. Mackenzie made me smile. I love her thirst for knowledge, her devotion to her son and her attitude in general. I appreciated her caution but loved seeing her let her guard down, even when she thought she wasn't. I would absolutely be on a trivia team or take in a Broadway show with her; she's the type of character I could easily be friends with. Campbell is one of my favorite Lauren Blakely book boyfriends. I have a running list of them and Campbell may have knocked someone out of the top five...but I won't name names. Campbell just is so insanely sexy-and has epic dirty talking skills- but has this sweet side that just killed me. He's definitely the total package in my book. Strong, sexy, sweet, smart and did I mention he's a musician? I would definitely be a groupie for his band! These two just click together from the moment their eyes meet. I loved every moment of them together. Their first kiss totally set the tone for me (I'm telling you, nobody writes first kisses like this author) and I just buckled in and enjoyed the ride. The sexy times in this book were some of the steamiest and sexiest that I've read in a long time. I truly thought my kindle would melt-they were that hot. But they were so much more than epic sex. Their connection outside the bedroom was just as believable and fun to read about. The supporting cast of characters in this book were an absolute blast. They didn't overshadow Mackenzie and Campbell at all but they added to the story in such a fun way. I'd love to hang out with Jamison for a day! There are books where you feel like you can just jump in and join the characters, live in their world for a bit. Once Upon a Real Good Time was one of those books for me. I could happily live among these characters. There were some Easter eggs in this book that definitely had me smiling as well. I didn't want this book to end. I thought it was a clever, fun and unique storyline. The writing was sharp and the pacing flowed just perfectly. I laughed, swooned and had to fan myself repeatedly throughout the book. Once Upon a Real Good Time definitely lives up to its name as this book definitely provided me with a really good time. I can't wait for the next book in this series! I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend it. 55
I adored this book. Woman meets man, they have wild, offthe-charts sex, and man turns out to be woman’s son’s new teacher. Bam! It’s the best kind of forbidden attraction, one that Blakely molds into the perfect love story! It’s witty and sexy: the best combination. Bring on the other 2 brothers!! 15
This was so good! I'm giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion. I absolutely adored this ARC. The characters were fantastic, the story flowed, there were some great sexy times, and lots of sweetness. Seeing the way Campbell and Mackenzie interacted with their kids was adorable. They're fantastic parents, and I was rooting for them from the very beginning. Campbell is definitely going on my book boyfriend list, and I think his brothers might be joining him once I read their books. The book was told in dual POV, and I loved seeing both sides to this story. In addition to loving Mackenzie and Campbell, I liked Kyle, Samantha, Jamison, Miller, Ally, and lots of others too. There wasn't really anyone in this that I didn't enjoy reading about. If you had doubts about how much I enjoyed this, I read it in two sittings in the same day (finishing the entire book within 12 hours of starting it). I could have easily read it in one sitting, but I didn't want it to end that fast. I am super excited for the next book in this trilogy! Thankfully I won't have to wait very long. I highly recommend you check this one out if you love single parent romances, rock star/musical romances, or just a really cute contemporary with a bit of a fiery side. 55
Famazing! The smart, witty, intelligent dialogue blew me away in this sweet, sexy romance with two of the best characters I've every read. Super mom Mackenzie is a hoot with her trivia skills and marvelous life attitude. She's put her love life on hold to focus on her son and his needs but when she lays eyes on the sexy guitar player at her favorite haunt it's on. And Campbell is right there with her. He is such a dirty-talking hot hunk! I was swooning from the first hair flip to the last melting kiss. He's a great single dad in addition to his other amazing attributes. There's so much to love about this fantastic story from the sizzling chemistry between Campbell and Mackenzie to the wonderful secondary characters, especially the kids, to the funny, sweet banter to the great ending. This is a feel-good rom com that's low on drama and high on love. Lots of sexy love! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 55
Once Upon a Real Good Time was a fun and light rom com! It's low on angst and drama and was a wonderful single parent love story with a touch of forbidden thrown in for good measure. I really loved Mackenzie and Campbell! They had undeniable chemistry and Campbell's dirty mouth was just delicious! The push and pull between them was perfect and created just the right amount of build up. I really appreciated that though they both wanted more from the other, their first priorities were always the happiness of their children. Having them both be single parents was a twist on the trope I haven't seen often and I found it really refreshing that the hero and heroine were both mature and responsible adults with established careers and lives. Mackenzie was such a quirky and fun heroine. Her endless trivia knowledge and cooking skills were awesome and I loved the backstory behind her single parent status. The secondary characters were just as amazing and added some wonderfully to the story, especially Jamison. The epilogue set up the next book perfectly and I can't wait for Miller's friends to lovers romance! If you're looking for an easy and sexy rom com, you don't want to miss this one! 45
Once Upon a Real Good Time is book #1 in the Heartbreakers series and is the story of Mackenzie and Campbell. Mackenzie is a single mom who has overcome some obstacles to get to where she is in life. In her final year of College she slept with her best friend guy friend so he could see if he was bi or gay. Turns out he was gay and that one time, she ended up pregnant. Even though life has thrown her curve balls, she makes the best of it, she starts her own graphic design business, still has a great relationship with her guy BFF and they co-parent their son. Campbell is a single dad and a talented rock star! His band plays at the Grouchy Owl, where Mackenzie just happens to be playing trivia with her friend Roxy. During his set, Campbell can't help but notice Mackenzie, but after he's done playing she's no where in sight. They end up running into each other again, thanks to a little help from Roxy, and the sparks fly. "I'm wondering if you want to be kissed by someone who's been wanting to kiss you all night long." Things heat up between the two of them, then hit a brick wall when she finds out that Campbell is the person that's been hired to be her son's music teacher. "Who decided that breakups had to hurt worse than stepping on Legos?" In the end it's their kids who intervene to bring them back together. 45
Mackenzie is a single mom who can’t help but notice the hot guitar player at her favorite bar. Campbell Is a single dad, a former pop star who lives a more private lifestyle now. The chemistry between these two is off the charts but putting their children first gets in the way of their romance. This is a quick, enjoyable read, with lots of dirty talking in an overall happy, feel-good romance. Blakely at her best. Oh, and Campbell is one of three rock star brothers, so you can bet there will be more deliciousness to follow in the Heartbreaker Brothers series 55
Lauren Blakely taps into the forbidden fantasy of every woman on the planet with this deliciously sexy romance between a former rock star and a beautiful trivia buff whose one night stand is guaranteed to fulfill every woman’s wildest dreams. There’s a good reason why romance books have gorgeously muscled men on the covers and Lauren Blakely rocks at picking the best cover models I’ve ever seen. You can be sure I kept that delectable cover in mind the entire time I was reading Campbell and Mackenzie’s story. What I enjoyed most about this book is that these lovers are mature 30-something characters who always remember that their teenage children come first in their lives. That rarely happens in this day and age and for a mature reader like me, I find that really sexy! I read an early copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own. 55
New author for me. A well written story, with a BUT...... the sex scenes with all the unnecessary language were more of a turn off than a turn on. It would have been more than hot without it. These days my opinion would be in the minority because it seems the majority love it going by the reviews. Just seems a shame to me that for two people who were falling in love and were so great out of the bedroom, would dirty it up when they were in it. Just my opinion. 45
couldn’t get through the first 50 pages. Ridiculous, cheesy and just bad. 15
