For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare - poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a U.S. Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events, inspiring Outside magazine to name him The Fittest (Real) Man in America.
In Can't Hurt Me, he shares his astonishing life story and reveals that most of us tap into only 40% of our capabilities. Goggins calls this The 40% Rule, and his story illuminates a path that anyone can follow to push past pain, demolish fear, and reach their full potential.

I’ll be honest— I wasn’t sure if I’d like this book but I was so wrong! I finished it in under 5 days because it was so good! It truly dives deep into mindset and how to overcome your own self doubts and fears! Highly recommend this book to anybody— but be fair warned, it does have some profanity in it, which I didn’t mind, but overall it’s a fantastic read! 55
Best book I've ever read... Period. Must read. 55

Best Book To Read 55
If anything this book will teach you that you can will yourself to do a lot more than you think you are capable of. This man was constantly pushed to his limits, limits most would crumble under. Yet he made it through. And not because he’s this super athlete. It’s because he willed himself to do these things. The best part is he shows you how to apply the things he’s learned to everyday life. 55
I downloaded this by mistake, thinking it was the audiobook. I've struggled with crippling dyslexia for 3+ years since an adderall stint in high-school, and I was both terrified and disappointed when I found out my newly downloaded title was not an audio version. I started painstakingly reading and re-reading pages. After about 300 pages in, however, I started picking it up again. Pages were flying by and I was ACTUALLY retaining it. Due to Goggins' storytelling, commitment, undertones of commitment and dedication, I FINISHED the book proudly and with an excitement to read again. I've recently run ultra marathons and other incredible feats but I whole-heartedly rank finishing this book among the greatest of many accomplishments to come. Thank you so much for this book. It will motivate thousands of others for generations to come. -Nohea 55
From start to finish, one of the best stories I have ever read! Thank you Mr. Goggins for your devotion to not only better yourself, but others around you as well. Semper Fi Brother! 55
after reading this book cover to cover, I now know why goggins does what he does and for all of those who see him as a selfish evil man, remember that he is helping millions master their minds and defy the odds 55
A great read. I went in thinking this book was about a Warrior ‘s story about combat missions and the aftermath, but quickly realized it was the combat mission of life. A motivating story. Simper fi! 55
I thought this was was great. 55
I have learned a lot about myself in this book. I’m glad that he called all of us out on our laziness and motivations. I have a lot to do to train my mind and callus my mind 55
While many may have listened to his various interviews and podcasts, his book surpasses them all by a long shot, especially the audiobook! Many will look at his extreme methods as crazy, but it is the messages and takeaways that make this book a must read. Don’t read this book if you want a self help book. His solutions don’t lie in catchy slogans or phrases. He’s all about personal accountability, hard work, self reflection, embracing and learning from failure and the benefits that naturally flow from consistently working hard and trying to improve. 55
Incredible read, couldn’t put it down. Learned so much from David and admire his mindset and outlook on life. If you’re stuck in a rut, need motivation, read this book. You will not regret it. 55
This journey into the life and times of Chief Goggins(Ret.) is raw. Written just the way you would expect the story to be told by a retired enlisted operator that admits to struggles with learning in his youth. This is not to say that it is unintelligent, but to say that it reads as if he is speaking directly to you. Each technique he delivers for the reader to soak up and meditate on is tightly wound and related to an actual point in time from his life experiences. Direct and to the point without random unrelated tangents. This is a guide to build strength and character within yourself, without the puff and nonsense of the self help genre. A definite must read for anyone related to the military community, and for individuals dedicated to unearthing their inner spark. 55
Great read, shows what is capable if you don’t let your mind stop you 55
Seriously, fantastic read. This book changed my life. 55
Do not read this unless you plan to change your outlook on life and realize that failure and success are one and the same. 55
First review I’ve ever given and never listened to an audiobook so quickly. Became a fan from his interviews on Joe Rogan and I’m glad I bought in. Kind of wish he was the narrator, but either way; the stories are insane. It’s hard to listen to them and not want to better yourself. No fluff, no empty plateaus. This guy has to be one of the baddest people of all time. 55
Excellent read on forging mental toughness. Once you pick it up, it’s hard to stop reading 55
