A rags-to-riches deal for single mother LuAnn Tyler is deadlier than she ever could have imagined in this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller from David Baldacci.
She is twenty, beautiful, dirt-poor, and hoping for a better life for her infant daughter when LuAnn Tyler is offered the gift of a lifetime, a $100 million lottery jackpot. All she has to do is change her identity and leave the U.S. forever.
It's an offer she dares to refuse...until violence forces her hand and thrusts her into a harrowing game of high-stakes, big-money subterfuge. It's a price she won't fully pay...until she does the unthinkable and breaks the promise that made her rich.
For if LuAnn Tyler comes home, she will be pitted against the deadliest contestant of all: the chameleon-like financial mastermind who changed her life. And who can take it away at will...
Winner(s) or The Winner(s) may refer to: Champion, the victor in a game or contest..
A great read. Impossible to put this book down. Fascinating story. 55
The Winner is a great book by Baldacci that kept the suspense up until the very end. I couldn't read the pages fast enough. 55
A well-told, creative, if implausible story by a writer I always enjoy. However, the tale was way too long for my liking. I think at least a third of the book could have been edited out without losing a beat. In your next book, Mr. B., please tighten it up. Surely you' re not paid by the word! 35
The beginning and middle of the story were very slow, almost boring. The last third of the book was fast-paced, a good read. The ending was predictable, but still satisfying. 35
Great read. Baldacci doesn't disappoint. If only he wasn't a democrat. 55
If you're looking for a page turner that grabs your attention from start to finish, this is a good read. Not too deep; good for reading at the gym or the beach where there are other distractions. If you like Baldacci, I found this to be one of his better books. 45
I loved this book, the characters, the plot, the intrigue. I hated to see this story end. I really hope it becomes a movie, it would be great. 55
It tells the characters which direction to turn, what look to have on their face, and you can hear the movie score in the background. She's poor - but stunningly beautiful and strong and clever! She can ride horses and shoot a gun and do hand to hand combat and even chop wood! She gets the handsome FBI agent in the end and keeps her money! Keep yours. 25
Has all the elements of his best books! A fun read. 55
Good plot and characters, but the villain was unbelievable. Add to that the never ending details regarding makeup and disguises ( I never want to read the words "spirit gum" again), and you loose a star. Too much unnecessary filler, not enough meat. Stop describing the set decoration and write the book! The author's later work is much improved. That's the good news :) 35
Great book!!! 55
Exceptional. Didn't want to finish. So suspenseful. A must read. 55
WoW! Amazing book! I would read it again! Also my first book on my iPad. A must read!!!! 55
It took me until past half way to get into it . I love Baldacci's books but this one was really tough to get into. 35
A great read ....hard to put down 55
Suspenseful, fast paced and typical Baldacci. Definite read! 55
