An Instant Classic and One of the Great Love Stories of Our Time

Andre Aciman's Call Me by Your Name is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents’ cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. Each is unprepared for the consequences of their attraction, when, during the restless summer weeks, unrelenting currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion and test the charged ground between them. Recklessly, the two verge toward the one thing both fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy. It is an instant classic and one of the great love stories of our time.

An enchanting and beautiful5 star

Aciman beautifully captures the internal process of Elio as he comes to terms with falling in love with a handsome visitor to his family’s home in Italy. Elmo’s thoughts and feelings are captured with such detail and thoughtfulness and conveyed with a wonderful sense of poetry. Without a doubt this is one of the most expertly crafted narratives that I’ve ever read. 55

I am broken5 star

This is one of the most amazing books I have read in a long time. It was so raw and real. It has broken me but I would do it all again. I cannot explain to you how easily I fell in love with this book. The choice of words and the structure of the story is so perfect. It made me laugh, cringe, cry. All in all I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I adore the story, characters, words. It is simply a beautiful piece of work. 55

What an outstanding amazing book.5 star

I’ve read it 4 times this week! I can’t get enough of this book! 55

Amazing so far5 star

I love it, it’s one of the best romance books I’ve read and the first novel I’ve read in general I can’t stop reading it but I don’t want to read it all in one day. I’m so excited about reading it, then watching the movie when it comes out. 55

A Piece of Art4 star

This book is a work of art. It left me stunned and love struck with each page. It’s easily one of my favorite novels and the progression is perfect. The overall story is a five but the translation from French to English was messy in some parts so that’s why it’s a four. However do not hesitate to read this. You will never forget it. 45

I have enjoyed this book and plan to read it again and again. It’s timeless, it’s wonderful love story. It tells you no matter what when it comes to love, it doesn’t matter who you love. For love is love is love. A well written novel. Thank you Mr. Aciman for writing this book. 55

Like poetry5 star

As many have already mentioned, this book is beautifully written. It's deals with the universal experience of first love in a poetic and nostalgic way, without over sentimentalizing the topic to death. The eroticism is sensual in the true meaning of the word. Breath taking. 55

Truly mesmerizing5 star

This beautiful novel transports you to a quiet seaside village in Italy, focusing on two merging lives. It's slow paced and subtle, but it never fails to vary from a poetic brilliance that keeps you wanting more. The tender and often explicit emotions shared between two people is conveyed in a manner that will make you ache with both longing and sadness. It's not everyday that you stumble across a gem such as this. 55

You'll never put it down.5 star

I first read this book my sophomore year of high school and even then the romantic, ethereal and incredibly sexy love story was not lost on me. I recommend it as a romance read for gay and straight audiences. 55

Intense and erotic4 star

This book is all about longing and the intensity of feeling of its teenage narrator. This book captures the sensuality, the vitality of a completely lived experience. Conversely it has the intensity of a dream, one that you wake sweating from. The setting of Italy in the eighties is so well realized. Anciman gets at the timelessness, the langor of the place and this suffuses the passion of the main character. Anciman's supple prose is sometimes repetitive like a song but this benefits the book as it builds the passion in the pages. There were times I tired of the obsessiveness of the main character but by the end I was enraptured by the spell cast by this novel. 45

Unforgettable5 star

Even after reading this novel nearly three years ago... I can't help but be reminded of it daily. From time-to-time I fetch it out and read a few pages... to savor the emotion it harvests. It's bare, it's painful, it's breathtaking, it's unforgettable. 55

Beautiful5 star

The best book i could have purchased. the sex, the passion, the intimacy. it leaves you wanting more, and crying by the end with a shocking and very sad ending. 55
