great from start to finish! 55
Good mystery. Ended so you go to the next book which I shall. Will recommend it! 55
I downloaded this book and also I’m reading it on Choices I’m in love 🙂😍. 55
The author has managed to keep my interest from the first page to the last. A good read! 45
I enjoyed the characters in this story and look forward to reading more about the people in Bloody Mary! And I didn’t see that coming at the end!! Wow!! 45
This book was the best I’ve read in years! It’s enthralling, with romance, humor, and do not forget suspense! 55
Another good book to keep me awake at night because I can’t get to sleep until I have finished reading. Suspenseful, keeps you on your toes guessing who did it. Almost skipped to the end just so I could get some sleep but thought better of the idea and continued reading. 55
3.5 because it certainly was a page turner for me but the ending felt way too rushed. Major part of any crime story is evidence collection & analysis so why in the end does the culprit have to show himself for the crime to be solved?!?! Reflects poorly on the deduction skills of the mc. 35
Kept my attention. Didn’t want tp put it down. Ending was abrupt. Of course you’ll need to read the second book and possibly the third or more to find out how everything turns out. I’m not really a sequence reader, but I’ve read other books from this author and do enjoy her writing. 55
Frankly this might be one of the worst books I have ever read. As you approach the end nothing makes sense. A thriller in which readers are not involved, it does not carry you to the end. And the main character is a winging, self-referential, tiresome character that makes even less sense. 15
Loved the witty banter between the two lead characters!!! I love a good mystery and J.J. is my new hero! 55
I actually really enjoyed this book and story. You never reallly knew what was going to happen next or who did it. My issue with books from this author is the font selected. I have fairly good eyesight. The strain of the small font does effect my eyes and unfortunaltely have to affect my reading selection. 55
Second time I've read the book, enjoyed it very much. 55
Great book and excellent read! The ending is abrupt but enough to intrigue me and make me purchase the next book in the series to see what happens next. 45
This book grabbed and held my attention all the way thru, can't wait to read the entire series. :) 55
Great book! Read it from start to finish in one sitting! 55
This is the first book I've read from this author and really enjoyed it. It was intriguing, descriptive but not gory. Recommend it. Will be reading the 2nd book of this series. 55
My first book of this series and I've come to enjoy it Looking forward to read the next book 45
I enjoyed reading this book and found the characters interesting. I would have given it 5 stars, but the book would have been better with careful editing. There were several typos just in the first six pages and at one point the expression, "pique one's interest" was written as "peak" instead. The errors are by no means enough to ruin what is a very good book, by a clever author. 45
Dirty Little Secrets was a really good start to the series, and I'm looking forward to continuing with the other books. J.J. was a great character, and I enjoyed many of the secondary characters as well, especially Jack. The mystery kept me interested, as well as kept me guessing. I enjoyed the setting of the small fictional community of Bloody Mary, Virginia. I thought the town and its residents added a great deal to the story. J.J. Graves has come home to Bloody Mary, Virginia to take over her deceased parents' funeral parlor. To supplement her income, she also has taken on the role of county coroner. Her longtime best friend, Jack, is the county sheriff, and he needs her help when a local woman is murdered. The husband is the obvious suspect, especially since he's known around town as an abusive man. When things don't seem to add up to his guilt, J.J. and Jack begin to investigate. Before long, another local woman is murdered, and the search for the killer is on. In the meantime, J.J.'s long dormant love life seems to be kicking into high gear when a famous writer shows up to glean material from the murders. As J.J. begins to suspect everyone as the killer, the danger to herself suddenly increases. I really enjoyed this book, and am very glad that I read it. With the way I feel about it, I believe I am going to like the others in the series, and I am looking forward to finding out what happens next. I am especially curious about how some of the threads that were left hanging will turn out. Great characters, an intriguing storyline, and a fascinating setting - this one had it all. 45
