There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER... Life will never be the same. #Hessa
Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.
But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.
But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.
He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.
Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?
Unless…could this be love?

I’m happy that I got to read this book on Wattpad yearsss ago and now the have a book and a movie !!! 55
It’s exactly what I’ve been needing to read. It’s fast paced and never bores you, not even once. This is now my favorite book OF ALL TIME. It’s all those romantic movies piled into one super book and it’s fantastic. 55
i have no words its that good 35
I am a true fan of After! I remember reading the books on Wattpad and freaking out when a new chapter was posted!! While most people are saying that this story is toxic because it “promotes abusive relationships” I disagree. The characters change and they go through many things together to get through tough situations. Anyways the storyline is AMAZING! Any New Adult fan would love this book! I highly recommend! The writing style is very easy and fun to read! This book had me screaming, crying, laughing and I can’t wait for the movie adaptation!! Ahhh! 55
This book is my favorite book ever. The author does not promote domestic abuse in relationships whatsoever. This is what many girls live through and that’s why it’s so successful! 55
This is fiction, people realize that right? Some women dig the “abusive” side of men as a fantasy. And that’s what this is- a FANTASY. Work of fiction. It does not promote anything, it does not teach little girls anything. Little girls shouldn’t even be reading this book, or 50 shades for that matter. Control your own children but don’t judge other people for liking a little bit of rough handling when it comes to their male hero. It’s a kink, it’s a vibe, it’s something no one should be ashamed of liking or reading. Control is a very appealing thing. To be controlled is a very appealing thing. At least to some women. And as a women, you should trust yourself to know when a situation has become dangerous. This pushes the boundaries, sure, but not all women are built the same. Take your prejudices elsewhere if you didn’t enjoy the book. But I just don’t get it, says so in the description what kind of guy he is? Don’t read if you’re “triggered” by a dominant hasty unpredictable male role. Simple as that. 55
The writing is horrible and I cannot believe this is going to be a movie. I can name tons of other books that deserve what this books has. This book is so cliche that I guessed the ending and I hate those types of books. 15
This has to be my favorite series ever!! Their relationship is sooo TOXIC, but I think that it’s all worth it at the end. I started reading this series in December and finished it in less than 2 weeks. Once you read ONE book you will want to read ALL. I can’t wait for the movie to come out!! The trailer just came out and it’s beautiful, just like the book. I remember having my friends say I was such a nerd because I always read during lunch and they were surprised that I was still reading!!! If you aren’t a big fan of reading this book will be the perfect start! 🖤💜 xoxo 55
It’s an amazing and well written book. Amazing author, she has so much passion and so happy for her dreams to become a movie. To all the Haters, hate all you want, it doesn’t stop how many fans she’s gathering each and everyday. So happy and glad I had the chance of reading an amazing book, and the series was awesome. I have grown towards this book more and more. Congrats Anna with the movie coming soon! Cannot wait for April 12! 55
I will never agree with anyone that says this teaches people that it’s okay to stay in abusive relationship. Cause it’s not ! This book is about love, commitment , change , and growth , that these 2 people who weren’t supposed to fall in love did after never really knowing what’s it’s like to be in love. They didn’t have easy , all odds were against them and they really had a hard time just finding their footing That they’re committed to making it work cause they don’t know how to live without eachother. Not all relationships are easy they take work but when the right one comes along you fight for what you want even if it breaks you a dozen times. No ones perfect. But this book is a perfect example of love , growth , change. ( And happily ever after ) and people can better themselves to be with the one they love ! 55
I love both versions it’s amazing can’t wait for the movie❤️❤️ 55
I think people are really overreacting to this novel. It’s fiction. It’s not that serious. I loved the drama and the intensity and the suspension and the back-and-forth between Hardin and Tessa kept me on my toes. Everything had such a good flow and it only took me a day to finish this book-between caring for a 3-year-old and doing the usual Sunday household cleaning. I literally could not put it down. Just purchased the next one in the series. Can’t wait to see the movie coming in April because as soon as I saw the movie trailer I knew I had to read it. Great job. 55
This was such a good book even though the relationship was toxic and it kind of repeated itself every chapter it was very I interesting to read and I finished it in two days so that says a lot. 55
If you’re looking for a trashy romance and emotional abuse, go right ahead. “Hessa” is completely ridiculous and is so toxic it’s almost funny. Hardin is horrible to Tessa, and everything is so unrealistic. Do not recommend at all. Save your money and not read this “book”. 15
This book is for the women who are sexually numb. They must be an individual who is not even aware that they are in that state. If you enjoyed this book you need to go find a harem to live in as you must want to be abused and treated like an object. 15
This book really deserves a zero. First off, terrible writing. I'm a teenager and I write better than that. Second off, the author is obviously romanticizing domestic violence. A lot of readers may not recognize it as so, though, as the patriarchy has a bad habit of promoting and condoning such behavior. 15
I love this book. Enjoyed ever second of reading it. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series. 55
Loved it 55
I read this ENTIRE series, I actually started with the second book by accident when rummaging through some bargain sales at a store in town. Fell in love with the book and decided to read the rest of the series (although, slightly out of order). As many people think, this book isn’t good because it allows youngs girls to see that abuse, etc. is acceptable. I disagree, while this book does show a lot of contraversy on the subject, it shows what could really be going on within a relationship as such and it shows the in-depth thoughts of the characters/persons involved. In no way do I think that this is book and Anna Todd are promoting any sort of abuse, but showing the true light of what really goes on. I have recommended this book to numerous other females and I have not heard a bad thing about it from any of them. I will continue to recommend it. 55
I loved this book so much, it’s was dramatic and loving and just all around amazing. The ending..... holy crap it was a plot twist, I loved it sooo much. I am about to read the second one and let me say I can’t wait! And I am so excited about the moviiieeeee👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 55
