Book one in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling humorous contemporary romance by Denise Grover Swank.
Megan Vandemeer meant to tell her parents about her broken engagement, but a month and a half later she finds herself boarding a plane home to her wedding. Having stretched avoidance to its limits, it's time to come clean--a terrifying prospect since her mother is sure to blame her rather than her cheating, emotionally frigid ex. A couple of drinks and two Dramamine later, Megan finds herself spilling her sob story to the tall, dark, and handsome stranger in the seat next to her.
With only one week left to save his business, Josh McMillan boards a plane to Kansas City in a last-ditch effort, leaving the details to chance. An unexpected answer is delivered in the form of the beautiful brunette beside him. Though she’s completely loopy, her honesty, openness, and humor charm him. So when she passes out before landing, he helps her off the plane--a good deed that leads to a colossal misunderstanding. Her parents assume he’s her fiancé. In a twist of fate, the mix-up might help Josh save his business, so he plays along, figuring he can help Megan too. All he has to do is stage a public break up convincing enough to appease her mother.
Josh is only supposed to be a substitute groom, but the more time he and Megan spend together, the more their pretend engagement starts to feel real…and the less they want to break it off. Can a relationship that began as a farce turn into happily ever after?

This book was so good! I loved the rom-com genre which is different than this author’s other works-but, it’s still just as great! If you love romance and comedy, then this book is for you! Give it a try and don’t forget to leave your review afterwards. After this series, go check out her other books if you haven’t already. I have read all of her Rose Gardner series and absolutely love them! She also wrote some books under DG Swank so check those out too! I promise you’ll love her books! 55
I finished reading this book and I didn’t like it. 35
I wanted so badly to finish reading this because I initially liked the premise. Unfortunately, it just dragged on and on. I found myself skipping huge sections of it, scanning for the good parts. I eventually gave up. 15
I loved this book! Humor, love and great writing made this book awesome!! I didn’t fin myself skipping chapters like I’ve done with so many other books. I read every line without hesitation. Onto the second book 😊 📖 55
Totally outstanding! I didn’t want to put it down. The characters were great. Each one had an outstanding personality. I laughed over the grandmothers antics. She was hysterical! This book had everything! I highly recommend reading it! 55
I totally enjoyed this book. Well-written and very entertaining. 55
I rarely read a “first in a series” book that makes me interested in reading the subsequent books. This book was so witty and funny. You automatically feel like you’re following the characters and it keeps you engaged and interested to know how it will end. I even found myself saying awwww and chuckling; very audibly I must say lol. This was a fun read and it was very easy to get into the storyline. 55
I actually laughed out loud several times while reading this story! 45
Good book 55
I stumbled across this series by accident and I’m so glad I did! I absolutely love it! I couldn’t put it down! I laughed, (almost) cried, and had lots of smiles reading this book! Ready for book 2! 55

Great story. 55
This was one of the best books I've read! I laughed, cried, and never wanted to put the book down. I honestly am shocked this book is free. This author is too good. SUCH a good book. 55
I loved this book! Funny, interesting and romantic..💕💕💕💕💕 55
Boring. Took 500 plus pages for the most predictable conclusion ending. Redundant and repetitive every 2 pages. In the end what girl wouldn't get angry at a natural liar?????!! Their whole fake relationship was based on a lie, dishonesty and lots of fake emotional crap. Such a fictional book. Not one aspect of this story is believable not even the characters behaviors. Took 450 plus pages of utter unnecessary redundancy to get to the same conclusion in a 100-150 page story. Not worth reading 500 plus. Obviously the girl doesn't change at all in the story. The guy is a fraud. The girl forgives the douche bag like ALWAYS. Save your efforts and read something more concise and less predictable. 15
Loved it so much caught myself often wanting to open it and read it during the day instead of at night in bed lol 💜 age23 55
My all time favorite character in this book...Grams. I laughed so hard at her antics, I had tears streaming from my eyes. I've never held my breath before while reading any book like I did while hoping Josh & Megan's secret stayed under wraps. Great book. 55
Definitely a book I will recommend! It draws you in and makes you believe in love! 55
This book was definitely the best book I've read in awhile and the first by this author. I was laughing through out the book and hated to see it end. 55
You find yourself at the whim of the main characters, Megan and Josh. I was at the edge of my seat trying to guess what was next. Every emotion jumps out at you and you feel as if you're living this crazy adventure. Such an unexpected great read. I HIGHLY recommend it! 55
