Great book 55
Love the entire series 55
Fabulous read. Can't wait to read the other books in the series. 55
This was one of the best stories, nothing like reading a great story. Just wanted it to continue and not stop. 55
The author is definitely a great storyteller. I will say I didn't like this book as much as her newer books, like Dirty Billionaire trilogy or Dirty Girl duet. But I enjoy her writing very much. This one was a bit too instant-love for me. That's my only reservation, though. Once I got past that -- because I love the characters, I enjoyed the book very much, and will definitely read the rest of this series. 45
Charlie and Simon, two people who appear to come from completely different worlds yet are drawn to each other like magnets. Charlie is a free spirited girl covered in tattoos and Simon is the perfect Southern gentleman. In an interesting twist on the typical good girl falls for bad boy genre, in this story we have Simon, the son of a former Congressman who served as a fighter pilot for the Navy and sits on the City Council with aspirations of running for his father's former Congressional seat. Then there's Charlie, the tatted up spitfire who works in the tattoo parlor where she gets all of her ink done as well as a vintage clothing store. The free spirit who gets paid under the table and has an enormous dog for protection. Seemingly the polar opposite of Simon, there's more to Charlie than meets the eye. Born and bred in the upper crust elite of New York, Charlotte lived in the lap of luxury until her father was arrested and imprisoned for embezzling billions of dollars from his clients. A year later she's living under a false identity, evaluating her life and realizing she wasn't truly living as the person she wanted to be while living in all that luxury. I really liked Simon's character. Yes, he's a true Southern gentleman who loves his mother, has all the social graces attributed to growing up in an affluent family, has served his country and is delving into politics. But underneath that exterior we see a guy with wants and needs and just enough of that bad boy persona that gets me every time. He pursues Charlie relentlessly, and I must admit her constant pushing him away and running was a deterrent from me really loving her character. Her attitude of being able to do everything on her own and no one is going to tell her what to do doesn't work out for her so well several times throughout the book and at times I wanted to shake her. But it was obvious she is carrying some pretty heavy burdens on her shoulders for what her father had done to so many people. This is my first book of Meghan's and I am very impressed with her writing style. Her scenes flow smoothly and her descriptions of everything, from the people to the places made me feel like I was right there with them walking down Beale street or heading toward Voodoo Ink to get a tattoo. It's full of emotion and passion and drama and the storyline built steadily towards the climactic ending. This book doesn't have all the angst and drama that a lot of contemporary romance books have, but I am okay with that. I don't always need to have my heart beaten up and tossed around for a while before it's made whole again. This book gave me some really good feels and I was very happy at the end. Great job, Meghan!! 45
Ms. Meghan March has me addicted to this series!! I finished Beneath This Mask in less then 24 hours and bought the second book immediately! This story is about Simon and Charlie. They both have lived a charmed life but also know the dark side of life. They are both just starting to deal with that dark side. It’s a loving, but hot and sexy story. It’s also very well written and will make you fall in love with NOLA! I also love the secondary characters in this story. I would give this book more then five stars if I could!! 55
This was hands down my favorite of Meghan's Beneath series. The way that she describes New Orleans, I literally felt like I was there. Charlie is THE baddest chic and I want to be her when I grow up. She's so strong and independent. Then Simon....*SIGHS* Simon is my #1 book boyfriend. He melted my heart and panties from the 1st line. He's hard (no pun intended) and soft all at once. I've read this book more times than I can count! 55
Meghan March is a rockstar!!!! I swear this woman can do no wrong! Yes I was hooked from the very start! I devoured this book. It was a hot and tantalizing. Oh and her charchters are tatted and pierced. They will blow your mind. Yes on to the next book in this series. 55
This book is one to keep around! I am not the type of person who starts a book and finishes it! Therefore that alone should say something! I enjoyed the book however I am barely starting my collection of finished books! With that being said what I enjoy may not be the same as what you will enjoy! I do recommend to give this book a try, I mean it does not hurt right? 55
