Enjoyable tale of crossing through life's hurdles to find happiness. 45
Natalie Hale returned to her hometown of Dare Valley to start a new career as Head Caterer at The Grand Mountain Hotel...and to escape her gorgeous, persistent ex-husband. Blake Cunningham has retired from the NFL to pursue a second chance with Natalie. He follows her to Dare Valley, where he buys the house next door...and has a bridge constructed to join their two properties. Unable to deny the sparks between them, Natalie starts to open her heart back up to him...who can resist a tribute to her favorite book, "Outlander"?! But what drove them apart is still holding her back: her lock on her grief and emotions from a family tragedy. The Bridge to a Better Life is filled with Ava's signature hilarious scenes, as well as some very heart-rendering ones. For anyone who has experienced family tragedy, Natalie's experience will speak to them. This is a beautiful tribute to the families that survive a loved one's loss and felt lost themselves. As someone who has experienced this same loss far too many times, I was able to really identify with Natalie. I cannot recommend this book enough. Well done, Ms Miles...and thank you. Another wonderful book by Ava Miles. I found myself laughing out loud with Blake and Natalie with the football guys. And then crying buckets with them also. Wanted to read it in one sitting. Anxiously awaiting more Ava Miles books. 55
Ava Miles is a magnificent writer. Every time I read one of her books, I'm transportated to a different place. She writes characters you would want to hang out with and families that you wish you could be a part of. You can't go wrong when picking something by her! I couldn't wait to read this book. I feel in love with these characters in previous books and wanted to know how they would work their way back together. The journey the heroine goes on is moving and very inspirational, and you can clearly feel the love the hero has for her. My one and only compliant was that I didn't remember the person Natalie had been mourning that sent her on this journey. I would read the other books before reading this one as someone could get a little lost. Due to this, I didn't connect to Natalie's sorrow and mourning until halfway through the book. Flashbacks of Natalie and Kim (the deceased) was the only thing I wish would have been included. Definitely read this. You will not regret it! Very interesting adaptation of a large number of people throughout the series. This book was very emotionally involved. I keep wanting to hear that their Father(April's) husband develops an interest in his wife and family. Sees unrealistic that he fathers 5 children and is not adversely affected when he looses them all Rely 45
Oh my gosh where to begin with this book! So many emotions to live through, I've lost a daughter and both of my brothers! The emotional journey of this book is tremendous and the self preservation that Natalie went through to protect herself was gut wrenching. The love story between Blake and Natalie was one that we women dream of; a man that would give up his dreams for you is what every woman wants and the fact that he never gives up on their love is just heartbreakingly wonderful! I can't wait for Andy and Lucy's story! 55
This is the newest novel by Ms. Miles set in Dare Valley, Colorado and loved by her readers. I'm no exception. Blake Cunningham lost the love of his life, Natalie Hale, when her best friend and sister-in-law, Kim passed away from cancer. Nat suffered an emotional shutdown. She needed to be numb, away from people who would try to smother or fix her. She had to get away from Blake. So, they divorced, she moved back to Dare Valley, surrounded by family and works as the head caterer for the Grand Mountain Hotel. She is working on her grief, but it's always there. Blake Cunningham, NFL quarterback, has not stopped hoping for a second chance. He will do anything. Making up his mind, he retires from the NFL, moves to Dare Valley and makes winning back Nat his highest priority. Blake's brother, Aaron, who had Downs Syndrome and was Blake's inspiration in all he did, recently passed away from heart failure. Now that he's retired it's time to think about the future. He's planning a football camp at a local university for intellectually disabled children, staffed by all his buddies from his playing days and honoring Aaron. Natalie doesn't even know he has moved until a bridge appears between her property and next door. The first thing she sees is Touchdown her beagle she stills adores. Next, Blake appears. He makes no secret of his plans. He wants to share Touchdown and prove to her they still love each other. She feels a spark at his words, maybe it's time. This novel is a very romantic love story. Blake is sweet, gorgeous and totally in love with Nat, which he tries to prove in every way he can. Nat is afraid, stubborn and still very attracted to Blake, but still pushes him away. I did want to shake her on occasion for not seeing the love right in front of her! A very enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to the next visit to Dare Valley. I received this ARC from the publisher for an honest review. Pat Fordyce Five Stars 55
Natalie has suffered endless trauma when cancer took her best friend too soon. Unable to cope with that loss Natalie pushed Blake out of her life refusing to share her grief or work through any of those feelings of anger. Blake vows to win Natalie back, he leaves the NFL, giving up his career and retiring at the height of his career. Natalie and Blake love each other madly and through many twists and turns try to work their way back to one another. But can they survive another critical blow when yet another medical emergency occurs? A must read for someone who has wondered did I make the right decisions? 55
