Sisters. Strangers. Survivors.
More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia’s teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that's cruelly ripped open when Claire's husband is killed.
The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it.
Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping, packed with indelible characters and unforgettable twists, Pretty Girls is a masterful novel from one of the finest writers working today.

So, so dark. It was horrible and I wish I could un-read it. 15
Did not like this book at all. Way too graphic and disturbing. 15
Not for the faint of heart, but worth the disturbance. If you’ve lost a family member in a traumatic way it grips you from understanding the characters pain and longing to know the truth. 55
Absolute love for this book. Idk if it’s the disturbance of it or the twisted and flawed characters but I love this book. If anyone asks what they should read, this is always my go to book. I love the reactions I receive from people who read it. 55
The only thing missing from this mess is an evil twin. So bad 15
The low review is because the writing is just not good. The story is absurdly outlandish and so CSI: Miami sequel. Cheap thriller I would have expected to see on the free reads list. I just couldn’t take the writing seriously. It was way too corny and cheap if you know what I mean. She could have gone so many routes with this story and written something with substance. Instead I got something with a James Bond style villain. Stupid read. 25
Necrophilia, that is what this book is about. Disgusting. Well written and suspenseful? Yes. Disturbing and vile? Also, yes. Very disappointed as this WAS one of my favorite authors. 35
Very violent book with upsetting and disturbing imagery. Hard to imagine how one might even think of such a story. 15
This book was a page turner and I couldn’t wait to finish it, however by the end of the book it started to fill like it was dragged out way to long, at first the plot was great but as the book got closer to the end the author started adding more and more to the plot to where it was almost overdone, also I could have done without the graphic violence and had to skip over some of those parts that I felt was way to detailed. But overall I did enjoy reading the book it kept me guessing till the end and was actually surprised at how the book ended, so good book if you are into mystery’s and don’t mind some overdone violent scenes.. 45
Words can not express how disgusting this book is. Well written yes, but it actually made me sick! I couldn’t finish it. Not worth the $3.00 I spent on it! Do not read it unless you’d like nightmares! 15
Got through this one quick, good weekend read! 55
Great book, I like everything written by this author. Book held me captive! 55
Suspenseful and great plot. I love all of Karin's books and this one didn't disappoint. Loved it! 55
The first few chapters are fine. Then the story descends into an inane plot from which it never recovers. Don't waste your time or money 15
I have always looked forward to Karin Slaughter books because of the mystery, the characters, the plots. But this one was too disgusting and predictable. Great story about the love between sisters! 25
The tale of 3 sisters, one who was taken yrs ago and the other two who've grown apart. The tale of how those two and their parents survive with the loss. As a father of 3 girls myself, this story touched my heart. Especially the dads diary. Having said that I think women will enjoy this book more than men as it is mainly centered on the lives of the surviving sisters. This book does drag on about what the characters are thinking and feeling. Having said that, the ending was worth the tedious road to get there. 35
Brutally violent but the whole story line was violent and disturbing. Other than that it was well written but I’m not so sure I would recommend it. I like a twisted plot and a good whodunit but the gore? And violence? Not so much. 35
I loved this novel! The suspense was so intense I literally felt nervous as I was reading! Some parts are unbelievably graphic and made me a bit uneasy. The only complaint I had was my growing irritation with the main character Clare! Towards the end of the book I had an overwhelming urge to shake her lol but I'm sure that was the authors intention. This was my first Karin Slaughter read and I am going to be reading more of her stories!!! 45
Loved it! So unpredictable. I use to live in Dunwoody so it was fun to read about all the places in Atlanta & know where they actually were. This was my first Slaughter book and now I can't wait to download another on. 55
First time reading a book from this author. Didn't disappoint. It's been a long time since I've read a book this good. Look forward to my next Slaughter book! 55
